The MTB Center of Seia Aldeias de Montanha is an infrastructure of permanent animation aimed at supporting mountain bikers and cyclists.

The adaptation of the infrastructure and the marking of the routes counted on the support of PROVERE By Nature, in the context of the QREN for the Central Region. This space, which was inaugurated on May 14th, is installed in the former primary school of Santa Comba de Seia and provides changing rooms and a service station for bicycles (with a tire washing and filling machine and a mini workshop), on a self-service basis.

The route network of the MTB Center includes a set of four routes, from the foot of the mountain to the higher areas, with connection to the MTB Centre of Manteigas and the GR 22 - Grande Rota das Aldeias Históricas, also cyclable.

This network of cycle paths, in addition to respecting the requirements of the Portuguese Cycling Federation, with regard to the different degrees of difficulty, allows contact with the natural and cultural diversity that so well differentiates this mountain territory.

The routes that are now available cross bucolic sceneries, where the vines, besides being a structuring element of the landscape, establish the connection between the Serra da Estrela and the Dão vineyard culture, as is the example of the Rota das Vinhas. There was also care to ensure that the paths allowed the passage through the fields that are the pasture of the Bordaleiras sheeps, in the Seia Valley Route.The water is also in the genesis of the installation of an important set of hydroelectric power plants, as it could not be otherwise, one of the routes leads the practisers to the main plants that integrate the "Cascata" of Estrela.

Finally, and for those who are better prepared physically, we recommend a set of itineraries that offer the possibility of enjoying some of the highest areas of the mountain, where you will find not only a rougher and more rugged landscape, but also some of its most emblematic places, such as Penhas Douradas and Vale do Rossim, respectively in the municipalities of Manteigas and Gouveia.

  • From Porto: Take the A1 from Praça de Mouzinho de Albuquerque and R. de Gonçalo Sampaio, 4 min (2,4 km).Take the A1 and A25 to the N231 in São João de Lourosa. Take the exit 18 on the A251, 7 min (121 km). Follow the N231 to your destination in Guarda, 40 min (36.0 km).Then reach your destination: Rua Domingos Gonçalves Santiago 76270-184 Santa Comba.

    From Lisbon: Take the E1 from Av. Alm. Reis, Av. Alm. Gago Coutinho and Av. Cidade do Porto,16 min (6,3 km). Take the A1 and IP3 to the N234 in Lapa do Lobo, 2 hours and 21 minutes (264 km). Take R. da Escola and N231 to your destination in Guarda, 29 min (24,0 km). Arrive at your destination: R. Domingos Gonçalves Santiago 76270-184 Santa Comba.

    From Faro: Follow the A22 from IC4 and N125-415 min (11.6 km). Follow the A2, A13, A1 and IP3 to the N234 at Lapa do Lobo, 4 hours and 12 minutes, (495 km). Follow R. da Escola and N231 to your destination in Guarda, 29 min (24.0 km). Finally, reach your destination: R. Domingos Gonçalves Santiago 76270-184 Santa Comba.

p21 green

A very low difficulty circular trail that develops in the surroundings of the village of Santa Comba providing the crossing of bucolic areas of vineyards, olive groves and pine forests.

Distance: 8 km

Time: 1h to 1h30

Climbing: 125 m

Circular trail that follows the banks of the Seia river, past several vestiges that date back to the Middle Ages, such as bridges and sidewalks in good condition. The route has several supply points, either by passing through numerous fountains or by passing by cafés and restaurants.

Distance: 22 km

Time: 2h to 3h

Climbing: 445 m

This is a circular route of high physical difficulty that develops in the middle of the Serra da Estrela slope. It includes the passage of roads that provide a wide panorama over the Mondego Valley and the crossing of emblematic places such as the river beach of Lapa dos Dinheiros and the place of Senhora do Desterro.

Time: 3h to 4h

Climbing: 1360 m

Circular route that includes the passage through mountain areas located at altitudes close to 1500 m, of which the Vale do Rossim and Penhas Douradas stand out. The circuit has a very high degree of difficulty, but of great quality for the type of trails and challenges provided. From the Penhas Douradas it makes the connection to route 15 of Mountain Bike Center of Manteigas, allowing the realization of a great route that can be traveled in two days. In Sabugueiro and Vale do Rossim there are good possibilities of support.
