Curiously called a historical resort city, Lagos is located in the region of Algarve. It is one of the cities and consequently of the counties with greater notoriety, which go far beyond the beach, for its history, its vestiges and cultural heritage that dominate the landscape and life.

This is the first Mountain Bike Centre homologated in the Algarve. We hope it will be the driving force for the birth of other projects in this area, for the development of a network of routes structured throughout the region, also potentiating new tourist products, boosting this niche market of proven profitability by numerous economic studies worldwide. On the other hand, it is necessary to take economic advantage of the current situation and the European guidelines that increasingly encourage the use of the bicycle.

In the effort to revitalize and energize the Mata Nacional de Barão de S.João, where there is already a picnic park and some pedestrian trails implemented, not to mention all its historical past and the pleasant space that it is, this pine forest with a vast extension of acacias, about 10 kilometres from Lagos, will be the strategic base of the project "MTB Center of Lagos". This project aims to show and boost a large part of the interior of the municipality.

This circular trail fully carried out in the Mata Nacional de Barão de São João . It is a very easy and quiet route that allows you to get to know all the pine forest. At the end you will pass by the picnic park where you can relax a little.

Distance: 10,5km

Time: 1h to 2h

Climbing: 200m

This circular route is entirely carried out in the Mata Nacional de Barão de São João. It is a very easy and quiet route that allows you to get to know all the pine forest. At the end you will pass by the picnic park where you can relax a little. The creation of this trail it is a continuation of the previous one, apparently in trail typology does not bring anything new, but it will be important this one to exist for a beginner who already starts to have some more physical preparation and intends to enjoy a little more of his bicycle in the "bush".

This circular trail is the continuity of trail 2, without technical difficulty that allows to know the surrounding area of Mata Nacional de Barão de São João, ending with passage through the interior of the village.

This is a circular route, with a different geographical framework from the previous ones, developed to the south, in a flatter area, also made on paths without technical difficulty. The return is made by Bensafrim to also reach the end through the interior of the village.

It is a circular trail in the southern area of the municipality of Lagos and a remarkable route of this MTB Center. Connection between the mountain and the beach. It passes by Praia da Luz where you can glimpse its charm.

This is a circular trail in the northern area of Mata Nacional de Barão S. João, which allows you to discover part of the Serra Espinhaço de Cão, through its typical paths, arriving at the Barragem da Bravura on the west side, making the return by via Algarvia to Bensafrim. It can be said that this route is not technical, being considered difficult by some harder climbs and the extension.

It is a circular trail in the southern area of the municipality of Lagos and one of the most interesting routes of this MTB Center. The link between the mountain and the beach, it is by the sea, mainly from Praia da Luz to Burgau that the single-tracks increase the adrenaline of this adventure and will delight the more technical practitioners.

It is a circular route with very fun and emblematic trails in the area surrounding the whole National Forest. The return is made through the interior of the village, where everyone can recover at the end of this adventure in the cafés of Barão de S. João, to attack the last and emblematic ascent of the "Bonecos" of Barão de S. João, which leave no one indifferent to their passage, either by good artistic taste, originality, quantity and even humour.

It is a circular trail in the northern area around the Bravura Dam by its banks on fast and fun tracks. Next to the dam's pontoon, you can take the opportunity to regain energy in the café/restaurant located there, to finish this great adventure, in a perfect exercise that allows you to know part of the interior of the municipality of Lagos.
